Club website for BC Komárno basketball club

For BC Komárno we built a site that serves fans, sponsors, parents and donors at once — with live results, a roster, its own news system, season tickets and a three-tier partner section.

About the client

BC Komárno is a basketball club that has played in Slovakia's top league (TIPOS SBL) since the 2021/22 season. Founded around 2020 after the previous club, MBK Rieker Komárno, folded, it surprised everyone by taking bronze in its first top-flight season and reached the final the following season. The club also runs a basketball academy for children aged 6 to 13.

Starting point

We built the site to serve several very different audiences at once — fans who want to know when the next game is; sponsors who want their logo in the right place; parents considering enrolling a child in the academy; and donors who want to give the club 2% of their tax. Instead of one crowded homepage, each audience got its own well-thought-out space.

Challenges

Designing the club site, we tackled several key challenges.

  • One site, several audiences

A fan, a sponsor, a parent and a donor have completely different needs — the solution was to give each group its own clearly labeled page instead of cramming everything onto the homepage.

  • Regular content between games

For fans to have a reason to come back outside match days, the news section had to support frequent, content-rich articles without feeling like a chore for the club.

  • Sponsor visibility without clutter

Dozens of partner logos across three tiers (main/gold/silver) had to be organized so the partnership hierarchy stayed clear at a glance.

  • Transparency alongside emotion

The club leadership page needed to carry official data (company ID, VAT ID, IBAN) alongside the chairman's name without breaking the fan-facing tone of the rest of the site.

Our approach

We built the site in Next.js with the shadcn/ui component library on top of Radix UI primitives and Tailwind CSS. Each goal of the site got its own page, while the homepage works as both a hub and a story told in one smooth scroll.

  • A roster with player and staff cards
  • News as a full-fledged publishing system with detailed match reports
  • A basketball academy page with training info for kids aged 6–13
  • A leadership page combining people and official registration details
  • A partners page with three clearly separated sponsorship tiers
  • Season tickets and the 2% tax donation, with downloadable forms and a three-step guide
Process
1

Audience analysis

We mapped the needs of fans, sponsors, parents and donors and defined key features for each group.

2

UX/UI design

We designed a dynamic look in the club's colors, emphasizing sporting energy and clarity.

3

Development in Next.js

We built the site in Next.js 15 with shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS, including a news system with a custom publishing engine.

4

Launch

After testing, we launched the site ahead of the new season.

Results

The new BC Komárno website serves as a central hub for fans, sponsors, parents and donors alike. The news section keeps growing with detailed match reports (28 articles at the time of writing), and the site has significantly simplified season-ticket sales and community communication.
