About the client

CBRE Slovensko is the Slovak arm of CBRE, an advisory firm working in commercial real estate. CBRE Office roka runs under its banner — the only project in Slovakia that comprehensively evaluates and recognizes office spaces for design, functionality and workplace strategy. The competition has six categories — Absolute winner, ESG office, Office as company DNA, Innovative office, Most likeable office, and the anniversary Office of the decade — and returns to themes like architecture, health, well-being and technology all year round: through news, media coverage, an archive of past editions, and a conference with expert panels. It also rests on its partners, to whom the site gives a page of their own.

Starting point

The site has to carry two modes of the same edition. Before the announcement it is an entry portal for competing companies, and it has to explain what each category actually rewards — from the office that scores highest across three categories and becomes the Absolute winner, to the ESG office judged on environmental, social and governance criteria. After the announcement the same site turns into an editorial magazine presenting the awarded spaces in depth. Both modes had to feel like part of one project rather than two sites in sequence. The anniversary 10th edition also introduced a category evaluating every past winner, so the structure has to carry a decade of archive as well.

Challenges

Designing this, we tackled several key challenges tied to a prestigious competition.

  • A competition and a magazine at once

The site has to turn naturally from an entry portal into editorial content once results are announced. Someone arriving to submit an entry and someone arriving six months later for inspiration both have to feel they are on the same project.

  • A decade of history, one site

The anniversary 10th edition brought the Office of the decade category, which evaluates every past winner. The archive stopped being an appendix and became content in its own right — the structure had to carry it without losing clarity.

  • In-depth editorial content

Winner profiles are genuine journalistic pieces with quotes from the expert jury and from representatives of the awarded companies, and they rest on photography of the spaces. That required a magazine-grade layout, not a corporate subpage with a gallery.

  • The partners the project rests on

The competition rests on its partners, and they need a visible place with an introduction of their own. The site has to give them one without sliding into an advertising catalogue.

Our approach

We built a WordPress site with a homepage that clearly presents the six competition categories, the current edition and media coverage, plus sections of their own for the competition, partners, news and the archive. Once results are announced, we roll out long editorial articles with quotes from the expert jury of architects and workplace specialists — the editorial system is set up so the CBRE team adds those long, photo-rich pieces themselves.

  • A clear presentation of six competition categories, including the new Office of the decade
  • Editorial winner profiles with quotes from the jury and company representatives
  • An archive of winners from the past ten editions
  • A dedicated page introducing the competition's partners
  • A media-coverage and news section about the project
  • A round-up of media coverage about the competition
Process
1

Analysis and strategy

We defined the information architecture covering both the entry and editorial modes of the site.

2

UX/UI design

We designed an elegant look reflecting the competition's prestige, with a magazine layout for winner profiles.

3

WordPress development

We built the platform with an editorial system for publishing long, photo-rich articles.

4

Launching the anniversary edition

We rolled out content for the anniversary 10th edition, including the Absolute winner and ESG category profiles.

Results

The CBRE Office roka web platform works as a single project that serves competing companies before results and readers seeking office-design inspiration afterward. On it, the anniversary 10th edition delivered a showcase of awarded Slovak offices and a new category looking back across the whole decade of the competition — and the site has become a reference point for evaluating workplace environments in Slovakia.
