About the client

The event is organized by the Faculty of Medicine at Comenius University in Bratislava under the auspices of Dean prof. MUDr. Juraj Payer, in cooperation with the Slovak Anatomical Society, the Czech Anatomical Society, and the Czech Society for Histo- and Cytochemistry. The congress president is prof. MUDr. Štefan Polák, CSc.

Starting point

Morphology 2026 merges three congresses into a single event — the 47th Congress of the Slovak Anatomical Society, the 57th Congress of the Czech Anatomical Society, and the 62nd Lojda Symposium on Histochemistry. The website wasn't meant to be just an information brochure, but a full registration system with multiple fee categories and electronic payment.

Challenges

Building the congress site, we tackled several key challenges.

  • Three congresses, one registration

The event unites three separate organizations with their own membership discounts — the system had to correctly distinguish fee categories and generate the right document for each.

  • A real payment, not just a sign-up

This required integrating the Slovak Pay by Square payment standard, with a QR code embedded directly in the generated PDF document.

  • Abstracts, on time or later

The congress had to allow abstract submission both during registration and separately, for participants who decide later.

  • Two languages, one system

All content, including the program, fees and registration form, had to be seamlessly available in both Slovak and English.

Our approach

We built a Next.js application with a custom registration backend and an admin panel. Registration is multi-step, and on submission it generates a payment PDF with a Pay by Square QR code.

  • Multi-step registration (personal details → contact → billing → attendance → consents)
  • Automatic generation of a payment PDF with a Pay by Square QR code
  • An admin panel for managing registrations, contact forms and the congress program
  • A live countdown to the congress start on the homepage
  • A complete three-day program, fees and venue information with a recommended hotel
  • Fully bilingual content (SK/EN) from the ground up, not a bolted-on translation
Process
1

Registration process analysis

We mapped the fee categories of the three merged organizations and the billing requirements.

2

Multi-step registration design

We designed the registration flow and a bilingual content structure from the ground up.

3

Development and Pay by Square integration

We implemented a Next.js application with a registration backend and PDF generation with a QR code.

4

Launch and operation

We deployed the system with automated hourly backups ahead of registration opening.

Results

Morphology 2026 got a full registration system instead of an information brochure — participants of all three congresses register, pay and submit abstracts directly through the website, in both Slovak and English.
